What we keep in your browser

Otohpia uses only essential and functional first-party cookies, plus a little anonymous storage in your own browser. We don’t use advertising cookies, we don’t run third-party trackers, and we don’t follow you across other sites. Private by default isn’t a slogan here, it’s how the site is built.

Sign-in session (essential). When you sign in to the beta, a first-party cookie keeps you logged in as you move between pages. Without it, sign-in doesn’t work. It is only set once you actually sign in, never on the public pages.

Returning-device hint (functional). Once you’ve signed in on a device, we set a small flag so a later visit can greet you as a returning family rather than a stranger. It holds no personal data.

In-progress details (functional). While you set up a library, a short-lived cookie carries your entered details across the sign-in step so nothing is lost. It clears itself right after.

On the public pages we use a little local storage (not cookies) for anonymous, functional things: a random session id so we can see, in aggregate, where people drop off in the survey, and simple “already done” markers so we don’t ask you the same thing twice. None of it carries your name or email.

If you arrive from a tagged link, we read the campaign tag and referring page once at load and store them with your submission so we know what’s working, not in a cookie that follows you around.

No Google Analytics. No Meta or other advertising pixels. No third-party trackers, no cross-site cookies, no advertising cookies, and no analytics that could identify you personally.

You can clear or block cookies any time in your browser settings. The essential sign-in cookie is only set when you use the product, and blocking it will stop sign-in from working. Blocking the functional ones costs you nothing but a slightly less personal return visit.
